Sony has unveiled three new tower-style party speakers, expanding its ULT Power Sound range with the largest models it has offered to date. The ULT Tower Max, ULT Tower 7 and ULT Tower 5 add extra physical connectivity, including USB-C, RCA and XLR ports, alongside up to 100 LEDs for battery and Bluetooth status indicators and music-synced light shows. The launch matters for anyone seeking a portable but powerful home or party sound system, as Sony is pitching greater flexibility, connectivity and customisation than in previous ULT models.

The flagship, $1,499.99 Tower Max weighs 121 pounds and pairs four tweeters, two midrange drivers and three 280mm woofers for what Sony calls its most powerful bass yet, while the $649.99 Tower 7 (50 pounds) offers up to 30 hours of battery life, and the $449.99 Tower 5 (29 pounds) offers up to 20 hours. All three feature redesigned handles for portability, with the Tower Max and Tower 7 also gaining wider wheels, and users can now adjust EQ settings such as bass-boosting ULT1/ULT2 modes or a flatter, more accurate profile. The Tower 7 and Tower 5 carry IPX4 water resistance when used upright, whereas the Tower Max is only splash-resistant on top and intended for indoor use.
