Liverpool have signed 18-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Genk in a deal that could rise to £30m with add-ons, adding a promising young shot-stopper as they weigh up their long-term goalkeeping options. Brughmans will not arrive at Anfield immediately, instead staying on loan at Genk this season before formally joining Liverpool ahead of the 2027-28 campaign, giving him time to continue developing at first-team level in Belgium.

The 6ft 7in keeper, who has represented Belgium at youth level and started all four of Genk's league games this season, has signed a six-year contract with Liverpool. The move is significant given uncertainty over the club's current goalkeeping ranks: Alisson's contract expires next summer and Giorgi Mamardashvili's long-term future looks unclear, meaning Brughmans could become a genuine option from 2027. The deal was brokered by Liverpool's global talent department under Matt Newberry, which has recently brought in other young prospects including Mor Talla N'diaye, Ifeanyi Ndukwe, Armin Pecsi and Samuel Martinez.
