Two 16-year-old friends who went missing in Juneau, Alaska, were found shot dead in nearby woodland just hours after they were reported missing. Leotis Phillips and Zoey Clark were discovered by police in an area above the Glacier Highway on 31 August, and investigators say the circumstances of their deaths remain unclear, including who fired the fatal shots. The case has prompted an ongoing police investigation and left both families and their local community in mourning.

Phillips was last seen leaving his home on Kanata Street just before 6am, while Clark was reported missing from her house on Teal Street a few hours later; police believed the pair were together and warned the public not to approach them as they may have had a firearm. Their bodies were found in the woods at around 3pm, with a weapon recovered at the scene, though it is not known who used it. The Juneau Police Department confirmed both teenagers died from gunshot wounds, and their bodies will undergo autopsy at the Alaska State Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage. The Juneau School District said counselling would be made available to affected students and staff.
