A man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter after a 57-year-old mother died following a hit-and-run involving an e-bike in Liverpool. Joanne Doyle died in hospital after being struck by the bike while crossing at a zebra crossing on Mount Vernon Street on 7 July at around 3.35pm. Her death has prompted a Merseyside Police investigation, and her family have paid tribute to her as a "loving, kind and amazing" woman who always put others first.

Kieran Sewards, 31, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court via video link, pleading not guilty to charges of manslaughter and section 20 wounding. He was remanded into custody, with his trial set to begin on 8 February 2027. Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson said the investigation had led to the charges and that Ms Doyle's family were being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
