A Pennsylvania man was seen surrendering to police live on television hours after he allegedly beat his mother to death outside their home. Jakob Korber, 29, gave himself up to officers in Sewickley Township on Sunday afternoon as a local news crew filmed nearby, in footage that captured him calmly kneeling and lying on the ground as he was arrested. The case has drawn attention both for the brutality of the alleged attack and for the extraordinary circumstance of the arrest being broadcast live.

Christin Hamilton, 53, was found dead outside her home on Sunday morning after camera footage allegedly showed Korber attacking her for more than an hour as she stepped outside in a towel to let out the dog. Police said he used his hands, feet and objects from the porch during the assault, before walking to a nearby field to sleep. Hamilton's daughter discovered her mother's body at around 9am; neither she nor neighbours heard any cries for help. Korber has been charged with criminal homicide and denied bail, with police saying he showed only "a small part of remorse" during questioning.
