Forget ‘Wonder Woman,’ Gal Gadot’s New Action Thriller Is Officially Streaming Tomorrow
Gal Gadot is moving on from her DC superhero role to star in a new action thriller, "The Runner," which begins streaming on Prime Video from 2 September. The film sees Gadot swap Wonder Woman's fantastical battles for a grounded, high-stakes kidnapping plot, arriving shortly after she spoke publicly about the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 and how the situation was handled.
In the film, Gadot plays Maia Marten, a lawyer whose morning run turns into a nightmare when her son is abducted; the anonymous kidnapper, voiced by Damian Lewis, then forces her to murder one of her own clients to save the boy, with the action unfolding across London. The supporting cast includes Alfred Enoch, Rory Wilmot and Aaron Gill, with Kevin Macdonald directing from a script by Mark Gibson. Gadot has said Warner Bros' decision to scrap her planned return as Wonder Woman under the new DC regime led by James Gunn and Peter Safran was "not handled elegantly."
