Ariana Grande changed the lyrics to her hit "Thank U, Next" during the final night of her Eternal Sunshine Tour in London, altering the line about ex-boyfriend Ricky Alvarez to "Wrote some songs about Ricky/ I'm tryna make him my last." The tweak, performed at London's O2 Arena on 1 September, adds further weight to speculation that Grande and Alvarez have rekindled their relationship, following a string of lyric changes and public displays of affection over the course of the tour.

Grande and Alvarez, a former backup dancer, previously dated between 2015 and 2016 after meeting on her Honeymoon Tour. Fans had already noted an earlier lyric change in July, sung during a Brooklyn show, and in August Grande shared affectionate selfies with Alvarez on Instagram, widely interpreted as confirmation the pair were back together. The London date marked the tenth and final O2 Arena show of the tour, which also featured the live debut of "Nowhere, Nobody" from her new album petal, released in July and which topped the Billboard 200 with 295,000 equivalent album units.
