A Texas couple, Archana Suresh, 46, and Raghu Rajan, 50, from Murphy, Texas, have gone missing following catastrophic floods in Nepal that struck while they were on a Himalayan pilgrimage to mark their 25th wedding anniversary. The pair were reportedly near the Friendship Bridge connecting Nepal and China, which was destroyed in the disaster, and have not been heard from since. Their disappearance highlights the scale of the crisis, with nearly 85 Americans among thousands still unaccounted for.

The floods were triggered when a section of glacier collapsed along the Nepal-China border, initially mistaken for a magnitude 5.2 earthquake, sending a torrent of ice, debris and rock into the Lende Khola River and destroying villages downstream. Nepal has reported over 1,000 deaths and nearly 4,000 people missing, including 583 foreign nationals, while China has recorded 16 deaths and 546 missing. Rescue efforts have been hampered by landslides and damaged infrastructure, with around 900 hydropower workers unaccounted for and roughly 500 believed trapped in tunnels, as crews in both countries continue searching debris-strewn terrain.
