Rideshare driver charged after allegedly performing a sexual act in front of a female passenger

Daily Mail · 3 hours ago

A rideshare driver in Sydney has been charged after allegedly performing a sexual act on himself while driving a 23-year-old female passenger through the city's CBD. The 28-year-old was arrested by police at Millers Point on Tuesday afternoon, days after the alleged incident, which took place at around 12.30pm on Saturday. The case is significant given the trust placed in rideshare drivers and raises fresh concerns about passenger safety within the industry.

Following his arrest, officers searched a home on Rangihou Crescent in Parramatta, western Sydney. The man has been charged with three counts of carrying out a sexual act with another person without consent and two counts of sexually touching another person without consent. Police allege he was involved in three further, unrelated incidents of a similar nature between January and April in Sydney's CBD, Earlwood and Otford, occurring outside his rideshare work. He was refused bail and is due to appear before the Bail Division Court on Wednesday.
