James Fischback, a former Republican candidate for Florida governor, was forcibly removed by officers from a Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners meeting after protesting the county's decision to expand its investment in Israel-backed bonds. Fischback demanded to know whether the county served local residents or Israeli cities, arguing that public funds should be invested in Miami-Dade rather than abroad, before being escorted out of the room.

The protest followed a vote earlier in the summer to raise the county's investment cap in Israel from 3% to 5% of its portfolio, potentially freeing up roughly $400-450 million. Other attendees, including a woman wearing a "let Gaza live" shirt, also voiced opposition, citing the war in Gaza. Fischback, who won 10.4% of the vote in the 18 August Republican primary won by Byron Donalds, had built his campaign partly on opposing US-Israel financial ties, declining AIPAC donations and pledging to divest from Israeli bonds, while also facing criticism for inflammatory remarks made towards Donalds during the race.
