Julianne Moore to Receive Zurich Film Festival’s Golden Icon Award

The Hollywood Reporter · 2 hours ago

Julianne Moore will receive the Golden Icon Award, a lifetime achievement honour, at the 22nd Zurich Film Festival. She is being recognised alongside director Jesse Eisenberg for their new musical-comedy The Debut, in which she stars opposite Paul Giamatti, with festival CEO Christian Jungen praising her versatility and career-long ability to make audiences root for her characters.

Moore, whose three-decade career includes work with directors such as Robert Altman, Paul Thomas Anderson, the Coen brothers and Todd Haynes, will accept the award while The Debut screens at the festival. In it, she plays a housewife turned zealous method actor battling a domineering director. Her other credits include the Oscar-winning Still Alice, The Hours and The Kids Are All Right, plus recent work on Echo Valley, The Room Next Door and Sirens; she previously won Zurich's honour following past recipients Kate Winslet, Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone. The festival runs from 24 September to 4 October.
