Star Wars Zero Company is a great game that’s busted and may never be fixed
Star Wars Zero Company, a tactics game developed by Bit Reactor and published by Electronic Arts, has earned strong critical reviews (an 85 on Metacritic) for its story and gameplay, but is plagued by serious technical problems including stuttering, crashes and input lag on PC and console. This matters because the studio behind the game furloughed most of its staff shortly before launch, raising doubts about whether the issues will ever be properly fixed, echoing the troubled release and prolonged lack of fixes seen with EA's earlier Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Nearly 9,000 Steam reviews rate the game "mostly positive" overall, yet almost all mention crashes, stutter or game-breaking bugs, with console players and YouTubers reporting similar problems. According to Game File's Stephen Totilo, Bit Reactor furloughed the bulk of its workforce just weeks before the 27 August launch, with one source claiming up to 80% of employees are currently unpaid and only a skeleton crew remains to handle post-launch fixes. Bit Reactor says it hopes to reinstate furloughed staff with back pay if the game sells well, though employees are sceptical, and the studio is also facing an internal co-founder legal dispute not due for trial until early 2027; its only public statement so far acknowledges "emerging issues" without a firm fix timeline.
- Zero Company is critically acclaimed but riddled with bugs and crashes
- Developer Bit Reactor furloughed most staff just before launch
- Future fixes are uncertain amid funding and legal troubles
