The picturesque village of Boat of Garten in the Cairngorms National Park was transformed this week for a lavish private party linked to American billionaire Stephen Schwarzman. Crews converted the village's small train platform into an elaborate venue, complete with a covered dining area, neon signage, street lamps and stalls, while security guards, dancers, magicians and puppeteers descended on the normally quiet spot, catching local residents and volunteers by surprise.

Schwarzman, 79, a former adviser to Donald Trump, arrived at the platform in a cavalcade of black Range Rovers and was later seen boarding the historic Strathspey steam railway, greeted by two Highland cows. The temporary set-up is thought to have cost around £350,000, with an additional £18,000 reportedly spent hiring the steam engine, while the local golf club was asked to cater for 200 to 250 security staff and crew for a party of roughly 20 guests. The event coincided with sightings of Schwarzman's £300 million superyacht, Destiny, off the Scottish coast, and follows his reputation for extravagant celebrations, including reportedly booking Sir Rod Stewart for his 60th birthday party.
