A.B. Quintanilla III, brother of the late Tejano singer Selena, has publicly alleged on Instagram that a legal dispute is underway involving his sister Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga and matters connected to their late father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr., who died in December. Suzette and their mother, Marcella Quintanilla, have pushed back, stating no court-filed lawsuit has actually been served against her and that they have found no matching public case, while denying any wrongdoing on Suzette's part. The dispute adds to a long history of legal wrangling around Selena's estate and legacy since her death in 1995.

A.B. posted a redacted screenshot of what appears to be a cease-and-desist letter, rather than an actual lawsuit, accusing Suzette of neglecting her fiduciary duties as an estate beneficiary; he says she failed to hand over requested contracts and financial documents despite being notified by certified mail and email. Billboard found no matching filings in courts across Los Angeles, New York, Delaware, federal records, or Nueces County, Texas, where the family is based. Suzette and Marcella firmly denied that she stole or misappropriated any money, property or estate assets, or that she intends to sell any of Selena's belongings, calling A.B.'s claims "insinuations." A.B. says he will not comment further but that his lawyer will speak on Friday, 4 September.
