Carlos Queiroz has been reappointed head coach of Ghana's men's national football team, just two months after appearing to announce his own departure. The 73-year-old Portuguese, a former Manchester United assistant under Sir Alex Ferguson, first took charge of the Black Stars in April and guided them to the last 32 of this year's World Cup before losing 1-0 to Colombia, after which he seemed to signal his exit on social media.

The Ghana Football Association said it decided to re-engage Queiroz following internal discussions, citing his extensive international experience and knowledge of the squad, though the length of his new deal has not been disclosed. He will resume the role ahead of qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which start later this month, with Ghana drawn in Group C alongside Ivory Coast, The Gambia and Somalia. Queiroz has previously managed Iran, Portugal, Egypt, South Africa, Colombia and Qatar, and led sides to five consecutive World Cups.
