A prison nurse has appeared in court accused of misconduct in public office over an alleged relationship with a convicted killer held at HMP Wandsworth. Stephanie Adair, 29, was arrested in November after it emerged she was allegedly involved with inmate Jahki Crosdale, reportedly after he listed her address on court documents. The case highlights ongoing concerns about staff conduct at Wandsworth, previously branded "England's worst jail", and follows a separate scandal involving a prison officer filmed with an inmate there.

Adair, a contractor at the prison, was temporarily barred from working in institutions holding sentenced individuals under a Nursing and Midwifery Council order last year, and appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday before her case was sent to Kingston Crown Court on 29 September. Crosdale, 28, faces a charge of encouraging an indictable-only offence but did not appear due to video link issues at HMP Manchester. He was jailed for manslaughter at 17 after fatally stabbing Charlie Burns over a £150 cannabis debt, and has since served further sentences for drugs and firearms offences.
