DJI has unveiled the ROMO 2 range of robot vacuums at IFA 2026, building on its original ROMO line from 2025 with improved obstacle detection and a new focus on data privacy. The vacuums draw on DJI's drone technology for navigation, and the launch is notable given the FCC's recent moves against DJI, with the new privacy features potentially serving as a way to argue for an exemption from regulatory restrictions.

The lineup comprises two models, the ROMO P2 and ROMO A2, both featuring a redesigned perception system offering "millimetre-level" obstacle awareness, a LiDAR-guided mopping arm with a 123-degree swing, up to 36,000 Pa of suction, and legs capable of stepping over ledges up to 8.5cm high. From the fourth quarter of 2026, both models will support DJI's Local Data Mode, which cuts the app's internet connection to stop footage reaching external servers, alongside options to disable the camera and microphone and delete personal data. Pricing has only been confirmed for Europe so far, where the ROMO P2 starts at €1,299 and the ROMO A2 at €1,199, with orders opening through DJI and select retailers in September.
