Paris-based sales agency Alpha Violet has acquired international sales rights to "Prince," a dark comedy from Uruguayan filmmaker Federico Borgia, ahead of its world premiere at the 70th BFI London Film Festival in October. The deal marks a notable pickup for Borgia's solo feature directorial debut, giving the Uruguayan-Argentine production a boost as it heads into one of the major festival circuits. Set in the fading seaside glamour of Punta del Este, Uruguay, the film blends class satire, grief and domestic farce.

The story centres on Jaime, a former lover turned butler to a wealthy Argentine woman, Isabel, whose sudden death reveals a will stipulating that her Afghan Hound, Prince, has inherited her luxury estate. Isabel's human heirs can only claim the property once the dog dies, prompting Jaime to protect the animal amid escalating family conflict. The film stars Roberto Suárez, Maitina De Marco and Esteban Bigliardi, is produced by Montelona with Werner Cine and Pucará Cine, and the sales deal was negotiated by Alpha Violet's Keiko Funato. Borgia previously co-directed "Clever" (2015) and the documentary "The Champion of the World" (2019).
