The B.B. King Music Company and the late musician's estate have announced a new feature documentary charting his life, music and legacy. The project is currently in development, with details on the creative team, production, distribution and release still to be confirmed, and marks a significant effort to bring King's story to a wider audience through official cooperation with his estate.

The film will draw on the estate's archival materials and historical records, and is expected to trace King's path from the Mississippi Delta to global stardom, alongside his influence on blues, rock, soul and jazz. He died in 2015 aged 89. Vassal Benford is executive producing, with Winter State Entertainment's Hamid and Camille Torabpour producing and Leslie Small directing; additional producers include Lani Evans, Dr. Mark Smith, Nick Hagen and Sylvester Stewart Jr.
