A Georgia couple have publicly forgiven the street racer whose reckless driving caused a crash that killed their unborn son and left the mother needing a wheelchair. Symeon and Samantha Izaguirre were turning off Satellite Boulevard near Duluth on 20 June when Dorin Lupas, 33, travelling at 94mph in a 45mph zone, ploughed into their vehicle. Despite the devastating loss, the couple say they bear him no ill will and hope their story acts as a warning against dangerous driving.

Samantha, who was six months pregnant, suffered a broken pelvis and a leg broken in three places, and the couple's baby, whom they had planned to name Zion, could not be saved. Symeon broke a bone in his lower back, and both spent a month in hospital; Samantha still faces further surgery on her arm and leg. Following a three-month investigation, Lupas was charged with three felonies, including killing an unborn child, plus speeding, reckless driving and racing. The family has set up a GoFundMe to cover medical and living costs while Symeon cares for his wife.
