Andrew Garfield has named the singer-songwriter Cat Stevens as the musician he would most like to portray in a biopic. Speaking on the podcast Track Star Presents, the actor, who is no stranger to musical biographical roles after playing Jonathan Larson in Tick, Tick… Boom!, explained his choice by recalling a memorable Cat Stevens performance he witnessed live, describing the experience as one of the great gigs of his life.

Garfield was referring to Yusuf/Cat Stevens's set on the Pyramid Stage during Glastonbury's Legends Slot on 25 June 2023, singling out a moment during "Father and Son" where the performer appeared to duet with a projection of his younger self. There is currently no biopic of Cat Stevens in development, though his life has previously been covered in a 2021 French TV film and a 2006 BBC documentary. Separately, the singer is set to release a reissue of his 1974 album Buddha and the Chocolate Box on 4 September.
