Catherine Zeta-Jones has won praise from fans after using her natural Welsh accent for the first time in a major on-screen role, in the upcoming Amazon Prime thriller series Kill Jackie. The 56-year-old Oscar-winning actor, who grew up in Swansea, returned to her hometown for filming, and a newly released trailer has given audiences their first listen to her Swansea accent on screen. Fans reacted warmly on social media, with one describing the moment as hearing the "queen of Wales sounding Welsh".

In the series, based on Nick Harkaway's novel The Price You Pay (written under the pseudonym Aidan Truhen), Zeta-Jones plays Jackie Price, a jet-setting former international cocaine dealer attempting to live anonymously. Filming also took place in Bilbao, Lisbon and London, and the cast includes Killing Eve's Damon Thomas, with Gangs of London writer Tom Butterworth serving as showrunner. Zeta-Jones, best known for roles including Morticia Addams in Wednesday and her Oscar-winning turn in Chicago, said she relished exploring a female-led story about "empowerment, identity and redemption". Kill Jackie premieres on Amazon Prime on 2 October.
