Writer-director Josh Appignanesi has revealed a first look at his seventh feature, Coming of Age, a comedy co-written with regular collaborator Devorah Baum. Set across 30 years of car journeys through a changing London, the film follows a couple as they navigate love, parenthood, midlife crises and ageing parents, ultimately suggesting that growing older can be life's best chapter. It marks a departure from typical coming-of-age or romantic-comedy narratives by focusing on the decades after young love settles down.

The cast is led by Emun Elliott (The Dark, The Gold) and Lydia Wilson (The Maids, Alice and Steve) as central couple Jay and Hannah, alongside Peter Polycarpou and Tristan Ruggeri. The script draws on King's College London's "Sciences of Aging and the Culture of Youth Project", and the film was shot almost entirely on real roads. It is produced by Emily Everdee for Lifelong Films, with Sam Buckler co-producing and Martina Zimmerman of SAACY as executive producer, funded by UK Research and Innovation.
