James Marriott has released a new single, "Burn Down The Disco," ahead of his headline show at London's Brixton Academy. The track combines shimmering, dance-inspired grooves with the energy of mid-2000s indie music, marking a shift towards a more anti-pop sound for the artist as he prepares for his upcoming live shows.

Marriott has described the song as exploring obsession within a relationship, focusing on the breakdown of the persona shown to a partner in favour of intense, destructive longing. He said he wanted the track to hit hard and match the frantic energy of infatuation, and that its accompanying video allowed him to play a "terrible" superhero. He will headline Brixton Academy on 17 September, calling it a long-held dream venue where he previously watched acts including Tyler, the Creator perform.
