Merseyside Police have received more than 40 suggested names for an unidentified woman in her 70s whose body was found in a black bin bag in Stanley Park, Anfield, a week after a murder investigation was launched. The woman, described as white, around 5ft 2in tall, of slight build with strawberry blonde hair, was wearing a pink Nike T-shirt when her body was discovered on 28 August; she is thought to have lain undiscovered in the park's walled garden for several weeks. Police have logged over 120 reports from the public and obtained a DNA profile, but this has not matched the national database, and dental records could not be compared. Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson issued a fresh appeal urging anyone who has lost contact with someone matching the description to come forward, while a post-mortem has been carried out with the cause of death withheld for investigative reasons.
