A young mother in Utah, Fayette Whitehorse, has been charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse after confessing to injuring her three-month-old twins, who were found to have suffered seven fractures and a brain haemorrhage between them. The case came to light after Whitehorse and her boyfriend, Austin Meryboy, took one of the twins to Blue Mountain Hospital in Blanding with a limp arm, prompting scans that revealed extensive injuries and led child welfare officials to alert the FBI.

Whitehorse told investigators she became frustrated caring for the twins around the clock, and admitted to forcefully bending and pulling one baby's arm, causing fractures, while also injuring the other twin's knee while dressing him and causing a brain haemorrhage by bouncing him on her knee. The twins, born prematurely at 33 weeks, had only recently left hospital and moved home when the abuse occurred. Whitehorse was arrested on 26 August, conditionally released last Thursday under strict bail conditions, and faces trial in November.
