Haggard, then ten years old, grew into a committed believer, telling the Chicago Tribune in 2003 that he accepted being called "a nut" for his views and calling a potential confirmed alien landing "the biggest thing to happen since Christ" in a 2004 NBC interview. His festival ran in 2003 and 2004, featuring fellow country stars Marty Stuart and Willie Nelson, before declining health ended his involvement; Haggard died in 2016 aged 79.
