Bravo has dropped Below Deck Mediterranean star Nathan Gallagher after he left Australia rather than face court over a violent assault on his co-star and former girlfriend, Gael Cameron, the mother of his infant son. The 28-year-old Irish reality TV personality was convicted in his absence in New South Wales when he failed to appear, prompting a judge to issue an arrest warrant; two days later, Bravo confirmed it would no longer work with him, though existing episodes will continue airing as they were filmed before his arrest.

Police facts accepted by Judge Janine Lacy revealed Gallagher had tried to strangle and suffocate Ms Cameron, straddling her and blocking her escape during the attack. The assault, which took place nine months before becoming public, was initially kept secret, and Gallagher had claimed he was being unfairly judged without his side of the story being heard. It later emerged his bail conditions, set in December, did not require him to surrender his passport or bar him from leaving Australia, despite his overseas ties, allowing him to flee before his court date; his mugshot was released the day after his conviction in absentia.
