Danny Boyle's new drama Ink had its North American premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, shortly after debuting at Venice, with the director on hand to introduce the film. The film dramatises Rupert Murdoch's 1969 relaunch of The Sun, tracing how the media mogul transformed a struggling broadsheet into Britain's best-selling tabloid, a story that remains significant given the lasting influence of tabloid journalism on British media and politics.

Guy Pearce plays Murdoch, while Jack O'Connell stars as editor Larry Lamb, the Fleet Street veteran Murdoch recruited to drive the paper's transformation. The screenplay comes from James Graham, adapting his own Tony- and Olivier-winning 2018 stage play, and Deadline's review praised Boyle's fast-paced, energetic direction. The film screened at Telluride's Werner Herzog Theater, where Boyle spoke of his gratitude to festival director Julie Huntsinger, and Ink is set to premiere on Netflix in January.
