Masters of the Universe is expanding beyond film and television with a new children's book, marking an unusual shift into prose fiction for the franchise. The move follows the strong reception of this year's live-action film, which drew positive reviews and has become a top performer on Prime Video despite a modest theatrical box office, suggesting Mattel is keen to capitalise on renewed interest in the property across different media.

The book, titled The Adventures of He-Man and Porter: Skeletor Ate My Homework, is published by Mattel Press and follows Porter Avery, a young fan who is transported to Eternia after losing his mother and struggling to connect with his father; he bonds with He-Man over similar family issues while both face threats from Skeletor. It was written by Stephan Pastis, creator of the widely syndicated Pearls Before Swine comic strip, and illustrated by Will Henry of Wallace the Brave, and features familiar characters including Man-At-Arms, Battle Cat, Evil-Lyn and Trap Jaw, alongside more obscure figures like Clamp Champ. The book is available now.
