Country star Conway Twitty recorded a cover of "Three Times A Lady" in 1983, five years after the song was originally released by The Commodores. The track, written by Lionel Richie, was already a landmark hit for The Commodores, and Twitty's version highlights his versatility as an artist who crossed over between country and pop audiences during a long and successful career.

"Three Times A Lady" featured on The Commodores' 1978 album Natural High and became the band's first song to top Billboard's Hot 100, Adult Contemporary and R&B charts. Twitty included his rendition on his 46th album, Lost In The Feeling, alongside covers of the Eagles' "Heartache Tonight" and Van Stephenson's "You've Got A Good Love Coming". Richie has said the song was inspired by his father's unexpected toast praising his mother. The release came amid a run of chart-topping singles for Twitty, including "Somebody's Needin' Somebody" and "Ain't She Somethin' Else".
