The Lindsay Clancy murder trial saga has taken a new turn: influencer Amanda Hirsch, who runs the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast, apologised on Sunday after facing intense backlash for a now-deleted Instagram post promoting betting platform Polymarket in connection with the case. Her Friday post, made shortly after the mistrial was declared, noted that Polymarket had predicted a "Not Guilty" verdict and was tagged "#Polymarketpartner" — a combination of sponsored content and a tragedy involving the deaths of three children that critics called grossly insensitive.

In her apology, posted with comments disabled, Hirsch admitted the post was "completely insensitive, wrong, and out of character," saying she had become "so consumed by the trial" that she lost perspective on how inappropriate the pairing was. Days earlier she had posted more considered thoughts on the case, defending Patrick Clancy against conspiracy theories and warning that public sympathy for Lindsay Clancy should not eclipse the deaths of her three children. The episode has renewed scrutiny of prediction markets such as Polymarket and Kalshi, which have previously drawn criticism — including from "Survivor" host Jeff Probst — for capitalising on sensitive real-world events, with fresh speculation now swirling over whether the holdout juror who caused the mistrial may also have been active on betting markets.
