A geography teacher at an exclusive girls' boarding school has been struck off after his YouTube search history, which included sexually themed terms about teenagers, was accidentally displayed to pupils during a lesson. James Hindson, 69, was teaching at the £45,000-a-year Moreton Hall School in Shropshire when previous searches linked to his account appeared on the classroom screen, prompting pupils to raise concerns and triggering a misconduct investigation.

The Teaching Regulation Agency panel found that Hindson had made searches including "teens having sex", "teen bikini haul" and "girls in thongs" between 2021 and 2023, conducted at home but visible via his school account. The panel ruled his conduct was sexually motivated given the searches' focus on teenagers matched the age of pupils in his care, and banned him indefinitely from teaching in England and Wales, with no right to appeal for two years. Hindson, a married father of three and church warden, admitted unacceptable professional conduct and said he was "ashamed", but the panel said the ban was needed to protect public confidence in the profession.
