Persona series producer Kazuhisa Wada has said remakes of the original Persona 1 and Persona 2 games are likely at some point, following the release of Persona 3 Reload and with Persona 4 Revival due next February. Developer Atlus appears to be systematically revisiting its back catalogue, and Wada's comments suggest the remake project could extend much further back than fans had assumed, which matters because those two entries are currently the only mainline Persona games not readily purchasable on modern systems.

Speaking to RPS, Wada explained that the ideas for remaking Persona 3 and Persona 4 emerged around the same time, though the latter was temporarily shelved. He framed remasters and remakes as a form of "cultural preservation," saying it is Atlus's "duty" to keep older titles accessible in the modern day, and added that Persona 1 and 2 are "something we'll probably eventually do, too." A Sega leaker previously claimed years ago that remakes of both games, alongside an unannounced Persona 4 remake, were already in development, though the scope of those alleged projects remains unclear.
