Christopher Nolan's epic adaptation of Homer's "The Odyssey" is on the verge of becoming Universal Pictures' highest-grossing film ever, just months after its release and 114 years into the studio's history. The film follows Nolan's Oscar-sweeping "Oppenheimer" and features a starry cast led by Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland as his son Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope, with strong IMAX and 70mm demand continuing to drive ticket sales nearly two months after release.

As of writing, "The Odyssey" has taken $1.631 billion (£1.29bn) at the global box office, already making it the highest-grossing film of Nolan's career. It needs to surpass $1.670 billion to overtake "Jurassic World" as Universal's all-time biggest earner, a milestone it is expected to reach comfortably before the end of its cinema run.
