Justin Timberlake has marked the 20th anniversary of his second solo album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, sharing an Instagram carousel of archival images and a video reflecting on its impact. Released on 8 September 2006, the album represented a significant departure from his 2002 debut Justified, blending electronic, funk, R&B and pop influences under the guidance of producers Timbaland and Danja. The anniversary highlights how pivotal the record was in reshaping Timberlake's artistic identity and cementing his status as a solo pop force.

The album gave Timberlake his first solo No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while lead single "SexyBack" became his first solo Hot 100 chart-topper, holding the top spot for seven weeks.
