"South Park" co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have released a mock statement satirising Donald Trump's renaming of Lake Ontario to "Lake America" and the tech giants that adjusted their maps in response. In the tongue-in-cheek statement posted to X, they said they were renaming their own show "SOUTH AMERICA," crediting Apple and Google's "bravery and patriotism" and sarcastically thanking parent company Paramount for its "Skydance Capitulation." The joke fits a pattern for the pair, who have repeatedly used the show to mock Trump and his settlement with Paramount, and comes shortly after the series won an Emmy for its Trump-mocking season 27 premiere.

Trump signed an executive order last month renaming the lake, which straddles the US-Canada border, amid strained trade relations with Canada, arguing the US is the "greatest protector" of the Great Lakes. Both Apple Maps and Google Maps subsequently updated to show "Lake America" for US users, while Canadian users still see "Lake Ontario" and other countries see both names — mirroring the companies' earlier response to Trump's renaming of the Gulf of Mexico as the "Gulf of America" in 2025. Fox News Digital said it had contacted the White House, Apple, Google and Paramount for comment.
