A 15-year-old boy, Aziz Passayanavin, died by suicide in western Sydney on 6 September 2026 after suffering sustained bullying, prompting an emotional appeal from a prominent Muslim undertaker for greater community and parental action against bullying. Ahmad Hraichie, who helped the family retrieve Aziz's body from the coroner and prepared him for burial, said such deaths reveal a deep failure within the community and wider society, warning that bullies must stop targeting the vulnerable before more lives are lost.

Aziz was buried on Wednesday at Lakemba Mosque in accordance with Islamic tradition, following ritual washing and shrouding, with his father present throughout the process. Mr Hraichie revealed this was the second bullying-related death he had handled within a week, having also buried a 12-year-old girl days earlier, describing it as unprecedented in his 30 years as a funeral director. He urged community leaders to speak out more forcefully and called on parents to take responsibility, saying those who tolerate their children's bullying behaviour share the blame, while also stressing that children often hide their struggles due to peer pressure.
