Actor Billy Baldwin has described refusing to kiss co-star Sharon Stone during the filming of "Silver" after weeks of frosty tension on set, revealing the reasons behind the film's iconic love scene. Speaking on the "Lisa Guerrero Unleashed" podcast, the 63-year-old said Stone stopped acknowledging him entirely off-camera, only engaging fully when performing for close-up shots, before sitting apart from him "with her glasses on" and script open during his own close-ups. The comments reopen a long-running public dispute between the two actors over their strained working relationship decades ago.

Baldwin said that after enduring a month of near-silence from Stone, he told director Phillip Noyce and producer Robert Evans he could not film their fourth and final love scene as planned, having already shot three earlier when "everything was jiving." He agreed to proceed only if he did not have to kiss her, which he claims shaped the memorable scene audiences eventually saw. He also disputed Stone's 2021 memoir claim that Evans pressured her to sleep with him to improve their on-screen chemistry, saying Evans was instead referring to unresolved "tension" between them, and said he would still like to reconcile with Stone despite a heated 2024 social media exchange between the pair.
