Author and journalist Peter FitzSimons testified at Alan Jones's Sydney trial, telling the court he remains "almost proudly" opposed to the veteran broadcaster and stands by having once branded him a "malignant tumour on the body politic". His evidence covered both his personal history with Jones, whom he first met in 1982 when Jones was a rugby coach, and his role in receiving an alleged victim's disclosure of indecent assault, feeding into the defence's argument that rivalry and animosity within Sydney media have shaped the case against Jones.

FitzSimons described being contacted, via broadcaster Ray Hadley, by a former radio staffer who tearfully alleged Jones had groped him in a car and in a lift, and kissed him without consent; that complainant is one of six accusers behind 22 charges of indecent assault and non-consensual sexual touching against the 85-year-old, allegedly spanning 2003 to 2020 in Sydney and the NSW Southern Highlands. Under cross-examination by defence barrister Gabrielle Bashir SC, FitzSimons conceded inconsistencies, including that his police statement referred to Jones's hand on the man's thigh rather than knee, and acknowledged he had long been publicly critical of Jones in print. Jones has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denies the allegations.
