Slack is introducing "Slackforce Surfaces", a feature that lets users create interactive reports, dashboards, polls, presentations and microsites directly within a chat conversation using AI. Rather than exporting data to separate tools, users can simply describe what they need to Slackbot, which pulls relevant information from conversations and connected apps such as Google Drive or Salesforce to build the item on the spot. The tool can then be shared, pinned to channels, and made interactive so colleagues can view, engage with, and comment on it, potentially streamlining collaborative work by keeping data and discussion in one place.

The feature follows Slack's recent efforts to turn Slackbot into a more capable AI assistant, including summarising channel activity, sorting messages and scheduling meetings, as well as last month's addition of collaborative "vibe coding" channels. Slack says Surfaces will only access data users have explicitly permitted its AI tools to use, and the feature will be available to all customers, including free-tier users, provided Slackbot is enabled in their workspace. Live data functionality is set to roll out from October.
