A British tourist, Paul Cartwright, 39, from Greater Manchester, is feared missing in Benidorm after failing to board his flight home on Monday, prompting his wife and mother to launch a public appeal for help finding him. He was last seen by friends in the early hours of Sunday near Chaplin's Bar, and his family fear he may have lost his phone, which would explain the lack of contact.

Mr Cartwright, who runs a scaffolding firm in Bolton, was last seen wearing glasses, beige chino shorts, a white T-shirt and flip-flops, and is described as easily recognisable due to having half an ear missing. His mother, Eileen Jones, has travelled to Spain with a relative to liaise with local authorities and is urging anyone who has seen him in bars, clubs or along the beachfront between the old town and the strip to come forward. The case follows a similar disappearance in July of another British man, Cormac, in the Almeria region, whose family says he has still not been found, with the Foreign Office confirming it is supporting both families in contact with Spanish authorities.
