A new political thriller limited series centred on the capture of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein is set to premiere this weekend, with its release timed to align with the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Starring Joel Kinnaman as former CIA analyst John Nixon, the show is billed as a companion piece to Kathryn Bigelow's Oscar-winning Zero Dark Thirty, which chronicled the hunt for Osama bin Laden, and forms part of a long line of Hollywood productions examining the Iraq War and its aftermath.

Based on Nixon's own book, the series focuses on his first interrogation of Hussein following the dictator's arrest by American forces in 2003, and also follows his efforts to investigate the weapons of mass destruction claims used to justify the George W. Bush administration's invasion of Iraq. It is created by Daniel Stiepleman and Jonathan Wakeham, though it remains unclear whether the show will critically examine the case for the invasion, in the vein of Green Zone, or focus more on its human cost, as seen in the documentary series Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror.
