Lauren Hemp made her 200th appearance for Manchester City in a 3-1 win over newly promoted Birmingham City last Sunday, being named player of the match as her side began the defence of their Women's Super League title. At just 26, the England forward has become only the fourth player in City's history to reach the milestone, following Steph Houghton, Keira Walsh and Demi Stokes, and manager Andree Jeglertz said she "already has a legacy" after eight years at the club.

Since joining from Bristol City in 2018, Hemp has scored 74 goals in her 200 appearances, created more open-play chances than any other player in WSL history, and sits second on the competition's all-time assist list. She has won a record four PFA young player of the year awards, been named in the PFA team of the year three times, received an MBE in 2024, and helped City lift six major trophies including last season's WSL title and Women's FA Cup double. She has also been a key figure for England, helping the Lionesses win back-to-back European titles, and is widely regarded by City fans as a "legend" for remaining loyal to the club.
