Christian Bale Opens 11,000-Square-Foot Foster Care Facility in Palmdale: ‘Turn Their Heartbreak and Their Pain into Love’

Variety · 3 hours ago

Christian Bale has officially opened Together California, an 11,000-square-foot foster care village in Palmdale, California, designed to keep siblings together when they enter the foster care system. The facility, which held its ribbon-cutting on Friday, addresses a common problem in which siblings are separated upon entering care, and comes as Los Angeles County has the highest population of foster children in the United States.

The village comprises 12 furnished homes, including two studio apartments intended for young people transitioning out of the foster system, and will run programmes focused on stability, support and community. Bale co-founded the project in 2022 with Together California executive director Tim McCormick, inspired partly by reflecting on his own children's upbringing. Funding came largely through donations, with the Austrian American Council West raising nearly $9 million, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger playing a key role in bringing the project to fruition. Residents are expected to begin moving in next month.
