The New York Giants held a pregame tribute at MetLife Stadium marking the 25th anniversary of the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks, ahead of their Sunday Night Football opener against the Dallas Cowboys. The ceremony formed part of a wider league-wide programme of tributes across NFL Week 1, honouring the victims and first responders of the attacks.

Fans were greeted outside the stadium by FDNY's ceremonial Ladder 343 fire truck and a genuine World Trade Center steel beam, provided by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, while two vertical light columns echoed the "Tribute in Light" installation. NYPD and FDNY members performed the national anthem, players and staff from both teams wore commemorative first-responder caps and "Never Forget" T-shirts, and a 100-yard American flag was unfurled across the pitch. Members of the Palumbo family, whose father died in the attacks as an FDNY firefighter, served as honorary coin-toss captains, and new Giants head coach John Harbaugh, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens, said the tribute honoured "heroes who were willing to run toward danger while others were trying to escape it."
