A prominent Australian athlete has testified in a Sydney court that veteran broadcaster Alan Jones sent him a text message saying he wanted to be "kissing him all night" after allegedly kissing him without consent at a sporting function. Jones, the former Wallabies coach and longtime radio presenter, is fighting 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching without consent relating to six men, allegedly occurring between 2003 and 2020, and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. The case matters because it involves one of Australia's most prominent and influential media and sporting figures facing serious criminal allegations spanning nearly two decades.

The complainant, who met Jones as a teenager, described him as "overwhelmingly complimentary", sending flowers and tableware to his home and calling him "special", "beautiful man" and "champion". He told the court Jones later kissed him near his lips at a public event, an act he said lasted only a second or two but left him shocked, embarrassed and unable to speak about it afterwards; the prosecution has also indicated he will allege Jones later pressed his body and genitals against him. He is the third alleged victim to give evidence and the first to testify in person rather than remotely, with the court sitting in closed session, though media were permitted to dial in.
