Siri AI is here as Apple releases iOS 27, macOS Golden Gate and other major OS updates

Engadget · 2 hours ago

Apple has released the public versions of iOS 27, macOS 27 ("Golden Gate"), iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27, headlined by the long-delayed debut of Siri AI, a major overhaul of its virtual assistant. Siri AI can draw on personal information from various apps and use on-screen context to give more relevant responses, and comes with a dedicated new app, though Apple warns usage limits may apply. The rollout matters as it marks Apple's most significant AI push yet, though availability is restricted at launch, most notably across the European Union, where regulatory concerns have delayed it indefinitely.

Siri AI will initially work only in English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish support due next month, and it remains unavailable in both the EU and China for now. It requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible device, such as an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, while the wider iOS 27 update supports iPhone 11 and later. Other changes include a refined Liquid Glass design, app launches up to 30 percent faster, new AI photo editing tools, custom AirPods EQ, US bill-splitting, expanded parental controls, and dual phone numbers on one iPhone. New Apple Watch, AirPods, Mac mini and Mac Studio models supporting Siri AI arrive in the coming days and weeks.
