Alter Bridge and Slash singer Myles Kennedy has said he will never use artificial intelligence as a songwriting tool, arguing it would deprive him of the creative satisfaction that comes from writing music himself. Speaking to SiriusXM's Eddie Trunk, he questioned the idea of treating AI as a "collaborator" given that such tools draw on other people's work scraped from the internet, and said embracing it would mean cheating himself out of what he calls the "great scavenger hunt" of songwriting.

Kennedy, who has spent the last ten weeks writing during a break from touring, described the process as an obsessive but deeply rewarding pursuit he has practised for more than 30 years, acknowledging some artists find AI makes them more prolific but insisting that path isn't for him. His comments echo those of Alter Bridge bandmate Mark Tremonti, who earlier this year warned that AI threatens the era in which audiences can trust art is authentically made. Alter Bridge begin a US headline tour on 5th November in Philadelphia, running through to 5th December in Reno, Nevada, with support from Big Wreck and Tim Montana, after which Kennedy will focus on a new Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators album expected in early 2027.
