Meta expands subscription push with new AI-focused plans

TechCrunch · 22 hours ago

Meta has launched Meta One, a new subscription tier offering expanded access to its AI tools across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, alongside separate plans aimed at businesses and creators. The move is designed to help Meta monetise its Muse AI models, following its $14.3 billion investment in Scale AI in 2025, which brought in Scale's chief executive, Alexandr Wang, to lead the company's AI efforts. It builds on Meta's existing subscription push, which introduced lower-cost "Plus" tiers in March and has already delivered strong revenue growth for the company.

The AI-focused plans consist of Core ($7.99/month) and Premium ($19.99/month), both bundling existing Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus and WhatsApp Plus features with greater use of tools such as Muse Image, Muse Video and Instagram's Restyle editor; Meta has not disclosed exact usage limits, saying these vary by country and system conditions. Separately, businesses and creators can choose from four tiers — Essential (from $14.99/month), Advanced (from $49.99/month), Expert (from $149/month) and Max (from $499/month) — offering features including business agent tools, verified badges, scheduling, analytics and audience insights. Meta said the earlier Plus tiers have already boosted revenue significantly, with Instagram's daily worldwide revenue reaching $1.2 million and Facebook's reaching $528,000 as of the week of 9 September, according to Appfigures.
